Gustav Klimt, renowned as the “painter of women”, created intimate studies of female eroticism in his art. In “Klimt’s Kiss” a student reflects with Emilie Flöge, Klimt’s emancipated life partner, in a fictional meeting on Klimt’s life and work from a female perspective, discussing controversial triumphs and bitter scandals as well as tragedies and love affairs.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Lichthalle MAAG in Zurich, Switzerland, and takes visitors on an immersive journey through Klimt's life and artistic legacy. From the early days of his career to his later works, the exhibition provides an in-depth exploration of the painter's style and techniques, as well as his influence on the art world.
At the heart of the exhibition is Klimt's iconic painting, "The Kiss". Visitors are invited to step into the painting and explore the intricate details and symbolism that make it one of the most famous works of art in history. Through a combination of projection mapping and other multimedia techniques, the painting comes to life, with every brushstroke and color highlighted in stunning detail.
As visitors move through the exhibition, they'll encounter a range of installations and interactive exhibits that explore Klimt's artistic process and his impact on the art world. They'll learn about his influences, including the Arts and Crafts movement and the Vienna Secession, and discover the themes that run through his work, from eroticism and sensuality to spirituality and mortality.
But what sets "Klimt's Kiss" apart from other exhibitions is its focus on the artist's relationships and personal life. Visitors will be introduced to Emilie Flöge, Klimt's long-time partner and muse, who played a pivotal role in his life and work. Through a fictional meeting between Flöge and a student, visitors will explore Klimt's life and work from a female perspective, discussing triumphs, scandals, tragedies, and love affairs.
"Klimt's Kiss" is a truly immersive and unforgettable experience, offering a unique perspective on the life and work of one of the most celebrated artists of all time. Don't miss your chance to step into Klimt's world and discover the beauty, passion, and complexity that defined his art.
